i'm ashamed to admit that i watched date movie and big momma's house 2 this weekend. date movie was a big disappointment. i was expecting some amazing combination of all my favorite romantic comedies, but instead it was a bunch of lame jokes made into a movie. fortunately, i got all the references which made me proud that i knew which movie they were all from.
big momma's house 2 reminded me a lot of the pacifier with vin diesel. actually, now that i think about it, it was the exact same plot line. but anyways, it had the typical jokes that you would expect from martin lawrence. oh well.

I just finished watching a little indie film called One Last Thing.... I really enjoyed the movie. The story follows a dying 16 year old and his last wish is to spend a day with a model that he's in love with. It's a little predictable and unrealistic, but hey, that's what movies are for. Maybe it's because of the similarity of age or because he was in love with a model, but I felt like I could relate to him. That's the beauty of movies; they're able to make our wishes come true if only for just two hours.

I just watched X-Men the Last Stand. After waiting two years after X2, I was full of anticipation and had huge expectations. I knew that Bryan Singer had left to takeover Superman, so I was a little wary because the new director was Brett Ratner. After watching it, I was extremely mad because it wasn't accurate to the comics. I'm not a huge comic book nerd, but I know the basics from cartoons and such. However, when I got home, I checked forums to see if others felt the same way I did. I was suprised that they said *SPOILER* some of the characters died and apparently come back to life in the comic books. So maybe Ratner wasn't too far off? I don't know*END SPOILER* Now I'm torn as to whether I like the movie or not. I thought it was inaccurate, but maybe it wasn't. I don't know. Anyways, if you're not into comic books that much, I'm sure you will enjoy the movie. It was entertaining and unpredictable but like I said, inaccurate.

The first two are excellent. I loved everything about them--the story line, the director, and the actors. You should definitely watch them if you get a chance.
I'm not saying X3 was bad because it's not. It's a great story and really unpredictable, but as a fan of X-Men, it surprised me. I loved it as a movie, but as an interpretation of the comics.... I don't know.

I just found a new movie to add to my list of favorites. It's called Imagine Me & You and it's a British film, and I guess if you had to label it, you could call it a "lesbian" movie. I've been dying to see it ever since it came out in theaters back in January but I never had the chance to because it was a limited release.
The two leading ladies are Piper Perabo and Lena Headey and both do an excellent job; their on-screen chemistry is great. Piper's character Rachel marries Hector, but at her wedding she meets Luce (Lena Headey) who is the florist. That's where the movie starts. It deals a lot with common emotions and questions of what one would do in a situation like that.
I really really enjoyed this movie. It left me with a warm feeling, and it was witty as well. Lastly, it gives you hope and belief that "love at first sight" really does exist. I recommend it.

I'm finally on summer vacation so expect this thread to be updated a lot more often.
First movie I saw was Eight Below with Paul Walker. Aside from the fact that he's eye candy, I enjoyed the movie. It wasn't a typical Disney film and I was surprised that they included some scenes which I thought little kids would be scared of (some blood and hunting from the dogs). It was a little too long, but the scenes with the dogs were really entertaining. The dogs did an excellent job acting. So basically the story is about Jerry (Paul Walker) having to leave his 8 snow dogs in winter. The rest of the movie follows him as he tries to get back to Antarctica and it follows the dogs as they survive on their own for about 150 days.
Yesterday I saw Cars in theaters. I was reluctant to see it because, unlike other Disney films, these were talking objects, not animals. It was a predictable plot line, but it was cute I guess. Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is the main character and he starts off as an egoist with no friends. It progresses and he finds himself stranded in the middle of a town filled with nobodys who eventually become his friends. It was a good (predictable) ending, but 2 hours was a little too long for an animated film.
Last night I watched Match Point. I don't usually enjoy films by Woody Allen, but I have to admit, this film was amazing. I'm not even going to go into it. Just rent it and watch it because it's that good.
And lastly, I just finished watching Underworld Evolution. The plot was decent, but I have to admit, I have a weak spot for Kate Beckinsale. The good thing is that it had a lot of action scenes--quite bloody though. I don't think I need to go into the story line; it was just the basic "good guy" versus bad guy, and guess who wins.

Thought i'd mention this one..
Has anyone seen a German film called Anatomie? (Anatomy)
Yes, it is a horror film with blood and gore. It focuses around the process of Plastination.
It's an interesting film, to say the least, and i thought it was alright.
I wasn't sure about posting pictures about plastination, so here's a link instead where you can find out about it.
That way, you can choose to view it instead of having to view it.
In a nutshell, what plastination is, it's a form of preservation.
Blood in the body is replaced with a polymer solution and gives it a plastic appearance. If you're unsure, check out the link for more detailed explanations.

I rewatched Hitch, an all-time favorite of mine. It never gets old, and Kevin James is magnificent in it. Even though it's a romantic comedy, I wouldn't classify it as a chick flick because guys I know have loved it. Definitely watch it if you've never seen it.
Today I watched The Talented Mr. Ripley, starring Matt Damon. I didn't know what to expect, but I found that I really enjoyed the movie. Great acting by all the actors, and the story line was excellent. I wish I could assimilate to different lifestyles that easily. Basically Matt Damon's character, Tom Ripley, takes on the identity of another man and fools everybody around him to believe all his lies and deceptions.
Then I watched Glory Road. Think Remember the Titans + Coach Carter. It takes racism and combines it with the underdog storyline, and we just watch as Coach Haskins (played by Josh Lucas) leads these college kids to the nationals. It was predictable but enjoyable for the most part.

Alright, so I finally had the chance to see Lord of War and I thought it was pretty good. I think the guys on the forum would really enjoy it. It's a pretty simple story line; it shows the life of an arms dealer and shows the cold, harsh reality of guns and bullets and the lives that are taken away.
Yesterday I saw The Lake House and I loved it. It's a remake of a Korean movie called Il Mare. Basically it's two people living two years apart, connected through a lake house and the mailbox. You sort of have to suspend reality while you watch it, but it's such a cute movie. What I really loved was how everything made sense in the end. I love movies like that; they keep you thinking after the movie ends, and they make you go "oooohhh now I get it."
I just finished watching V for Vendetta, another great movie. The fight scenes are awesome, although there are only about 3 or 4. It's crazy/scary to see how controlling governments can be. The main character refers to himself as V and he fights to overthrow the totalitarian government. He becomes a symbol of freedom and hope to the country. Definitely check it out.

I think Sandra would love Over the Hedge. It's a really cute animated movie with a lot of good jokes here and there. The voices and animation are superb and the story line is perfect for people of all ages. I also loved the soundtrack because every song was performed by Ben Folds. The story starts off with RJ (voiced by Bruce Willis, Sandra's favorite actor) and he steals food from Vincent, a bear. He gets caught and has a week to get back all the food or else he's dead. So then RJ tricks a group into doing his dirty work and we see how it all unfolds. I also admired the cleverness of the movie because it points out how humans are taking over nature.

Last night I watched War of the Worlds (the remake) and it wasn't as great as I had hoped it to be. Maybe I had high expectations, but what were they expecting when they paired Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg together? I usually enjoy sci-fi movies, and no doubt the special effects were excellent, but the story wasn't good. I enjoyed the majority of it until the anticlimatic ending. It had most of the right components: invasion by aliens--good, running for your lives--good, special effects--good, main character not fighting back--bad. The movie just sort of ended.
After that I watched Stay which is not for the simple minded. It was a brilliant movie and I'm still thinking about the ending (which always means it's a good movie if it leaves you wondering). It reminded me of Mulholland Drive in the way that you have no idea what's going on during the entire movie until the end and afterwards. I don't want to spoil it, but it's definitely worth watching at least once.

Last night I watched Two for the Money starring Matthew McConaughey and Al Pacino. It was a pretty good movie about the world of gambling. McConaughey's character Brandon rises to the top by advising gamblers on which teams to bet on. Just as he's at his peak, it all comes crashing down. Moral of the story: don't gamble.
Today I watched When a Stranger Calls. It was basically an hour of picking and hanging up the phone, then running from the bad guy. Ah, what do you expect from a PG13 film, anyways?
I rewatched Mr. and Mrs. Smith again, and it's still amazing. I love the witty dialogue as well as the action scenes, not to mention the incredibly attractive actors.
As for tonight, I watched Bicentennial Man starring Robin Williams. I actually really enjoyed it. It was inspired by the same book that I, Robot was inspired by, so there were a few similarities (the 3 laws of robotics, a disfunct robot having human emotions). However, this film wasn't action; it was a simple story of a robot trying to become a human. He lives for 200 years and stays with the Martin family as they grow and die. It really was a heartwarming movie.

I saw it on Thursday night in IMAX 3D. It didn't quite live up to my expectations. The story was alright, but I thought the movie was way too long. The actors did a good job though. Brandon Routh made a good Clark Kent. I still wish Bryan Singer (the director) stayed with X-Men 3 instead.

I've seen most of them. Snoop as Huggy was I guess the best cast because I think he has really putted some credibility to the character. Making Huggy a pimp is great because who knows the streets better than a pimp? Not even a bartender would know as much as a pimp (in the original show, Huggy was a bartender). :D

I think 1 and 2 were good, but I hated the 3rd one.
I've heard rumors from the streets but this one, I haven't heard it yet. Though, I checked on IMDB, there's no sign of a fourth one. Maybe they're still casting or writing a scenario...

Its a Movie from a Game too.
I don't play the game too. But you can watch the movie without a game-back ground. I think its a good movie.
I know Wing Commander comes from a video game. I was just saying that it didn't striked me because I'm not too much into plane games. And as for the movie, I never got interested into it. But I'll check it out if it plays on T.V. or if I can loan it in the near future.

The first one was kinda like an Australian version of "Dirty Harry"
The second one was more of a "survivial" from the gangs.
Third one was like the second one.....except Lord of the Flies was mixed into the equation. :icon_lol:

Okay, so my girlfriend and I are in Blockbuster...I was trying my best to steer away from the "B" section, but low and behold, she found Basic InSTINK 2 (you know how I feel about this..."film.") Okay, so she and I both have the hots for Sharon Stone...I tried to explain to her how horrible the movie was. However, she didn't care because she heard there was a deleted 3-some scene on the DVD.
Anyway, after some coaxing (and light wrestling and tickling), I got Seven (yes, that's her real name) to put the movie down. :) So, we get back to my place, and we downloaded the extra scene, and O...M...G. What a waste of just...everything! It was sooo stupid! Having seen the movie, and can't imagine where they would have put the 3-some! Ah, but Sharon's female lover was HOT! Too bad all of her scenes wound up on the cutting-room floor. Sev was SO glad we didn't rent the movie...she said seeing one "awfully acted, incredibly assinigned" scene was enough.
Okay...it was kinda hot...I mean, it's Sharon! ;) She does plant a nice kiss on the girl, and the girl sucks on Sharon's mellbimbos. :icon_peac

I don't remember "Katherine" as Sharon Stone portrayed her here. Maybe it was just too short a scene. So now the whole movie is downloading. Hey Joseph, I rented Silent Hill, Inside Man and United 93 last night. Silent Hill? I actually really liked it, and it really freaked me out. I was really hoping that the hot butch cop would survive, but they bbq'd her! I thought it got kinda weird with that religious chick and her cult, though. And WTF happened at the end?! Were Rose and Sharon dead??? I'm confused.
United 93 was incredible! But, I'm wondering how they knew what the passengers did since they all perished. They kicked those terrorist's asses, and I couldn't help thinking if only they had attacked them sooner, maybe they would have been able to take back control of the plane. The film was incredible...very sad and very intense.
Guess I'll watch Inside Man now...

Last night I watched Curious George. It's a cute little movie for kids, and George is definitely the cutest monkey ever. I don't know if older people would enjoy it though, but the soundtrack is amazing.
Tonight I watched Thank You for Smoking, and I thought it was really good. Aaron Eckhart stars as Nick Naylor who talks on behalf of tobacco companies and he's so smooth with words that he can convince people to believe he's always right.
After that, I watched Click starring Adam Sandler. I was expecting a typical Adam Sandler movie, but this one really surprised me. There was a good plot, it was funny, and It's one of those movies that reminds me to slow down and enjoy the good and bad moments of life. Not to mention, Kate Beckinsale is gorgeous as always.

With Halloween coming up, many of us gather 'round the ole telly to watch scary films. What are your favorites? These are the ones that I love to freak out on:
1. Halloween (the first one only). One of THE best horror movies EVER made.
2. Candyman. I have this movie, have seen it many times, and I STILL can only watch it in the daytime! "Helllllennnnnn...." Oh, HELL to the no!
3. The Omen (first and second films). Not really scary per se, just freaky.
4. Carrie. Piper Laurie is phenomenal as Carrie's religious fanatic mother!
5. A Nigthmare on Elm Street (volumes 1 and 3, Dream Warriors).
6. The Exorcist. It was a film that was ahead of its time back then, but doesn't scare me so much now.
7. Children of the Corn. Freaky kids!!!
8. The Brood. More freaky kids!!!
9. Hellraiser. A strange but freaky film.
10. Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I've seen both, and like the re-make much better. The only thing that kept me from peeing in my pants from fright was the sight of Jessica Biel in a white tank top and oh-so-tight blue jeans. :icon_drib :icon_drib :icon_drib

Halloween is one that just gets me every single time, Spidey. It was well-made, well-acted (even by the two kids!), and the suspense was in all the right places. Plus, the music!!! OMG! I actually don't think any scary movie ever made can top the original Halloween.

OMG, how could I forget:
11. The Grudge (great flick!)
12. The Ring (volume one). When the girl comes out of the TV? Holy shit!!! That part had me crawling in the theater!
13. Jeepers Creepers. I LOVED this film until they showed the Creeper's face--he ain't that scary! But, before that--I was totally freaked out by this one. I also liked how it was a brother and sister, and not two horny teens who were dating and bonking all the time. Plus, the Creeper's car horn still freaks me out! Actually, the 2nd J.C. wasn't bad either, but not as good as the first.
14. Rosemary's Baby. Yet another freaky kid! (or, the idea of one, at least). Another film that was way ahead of its time.

I totally agree with you on Jeepers Creepers. That freaked me out until they showed what the Creeper looked like. I still shudder though when all the bodies are pinned to the walls and ceilings. Oy!
What about The Blair Witch Project? That still freaks me out because we never see the damn thing. You conjour up the most scary thing in your mind and I think that adds to the fear, not to mention the theater was packed, it was WAY too hot in there and I had motion sickness watching it. But that's how they failed in Jeepers Creepers, cuz it was your own imagination until they showed him and he literally looked like a human in a halloween mask.

A VERY honorable mention is the "Ginger Snaps" trilogy. Actually, the first film won some awards. It's a story about two sisters (one of them, Katherine Isabelle is quite the hottie) who are obsessed with death, and vow to kill themselves together (I know, kinda morbid! lol). Anyway, all three are very good, but I like the original and the one of the sequels (Ginger Snaps Back) the most. To me, they are definitely worth the look!

Was the third film a prequel or something? That one confused me and I was never able to catch it right from the beginning. You know what, T? I honestly don't know lol. Are you talking about the one when they were in the fort?

I walked into Wal-Mart today only intending to buy 3 movies. Well, I walked out with 11. LOL.
I just watched Click with Adam Sandler and the lovely Kate Beckinsale. I'd never seen it before, and it was okay. Adam is always funny. And, how hot was Kate in her Pocahantas costume???
Well, more movies to watch...it's gonna be a loooong night...

Aw, I loved Click. It was so much better than the usual Adam Sandler flick because it at least had a moral. And yes, Kate always looks good. The girl who plays their daughter in the future (Katie Cassidy I think) is also really hot.
What else did you buy?

What else did you buy? Yeah, the daughter was way hot. I think she was also in "When A Stranger Calls" as the lead girl's friend.
I also bought:
The Sentinel (well, for my dad)
Halloween
Chronicles of Narnia
Eddie Murphy: Raw
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre--the remake from 2003 (my nephew swiped my original copy lol).
Stay Alive
Hostel
And some classics:
Pretty in Pink
Some Kind of Wonderful
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Hey Stacia,
I haven't seen the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies yet (Original nor Remake). I am going to rent some movies soon and I wanted to ask you which one is better and if I should see them both. The same goes for The Oman movies (I only saw the first part of the original.....up to when the woman hung herself)
Movies thinking about renting:
Silent Hill (obvious reasons, if you know me, lol)
TCM (both)
The Oman (both)
Holloween (Gotta see that one again)
Thats about all I can think of now

Hey Joe!
Well, both TCM's are really good. I don't really remember the first one, but it is truly a classic horror film. I'd go for the remake because 1. Jessica Biel is in it, and 2. it has a more modern feel than the first. But, on the other hand, that's what makes the first TCM so great...it was made in the 70's, and just has this "gritty" feel to it. Hell, get both!
As for the Omen, go for the original!!!!
I think you should throw "Candyman" on your list as well...have you ever seen that one?

'The Exorcist' Named Scariest Movie Ever Made
http://images.starpulse.com/AMGPhotos/video/cov120/drv200/v223/v22391vkagh.jpg (http://www.starpulse.com/Movies/Exorcist,_The/)Horror classic The Exorcist (http://www.starpulse.com/Movies/Exorcist,_The/) has been named the "Scariest Movie Ever Made" in a new magazine poll. The 1973 film beat Rosemary's Baby (http://www.starpulse.com/Movies/Rosemary's_Baby/) and The Shining (http://www.starpulse.com/Movies/Shining,_The/) in the Stuff survey, which appears in the men's magazine's November issue. The top 10 films on the list are: [/URL]

9. Planet Of The Apes (http://www.starpulse.com/Movies/Planet_Of_The_Apes/)

Yeah, I don't understand how those 2 made the list at all. Exorcist I saw once and I will NEVER watch that again. Once was one time too many for me. That movie freaked me out then and the mention of it gives me chills. I saw it for the first time Halloween night when I was 16. A bunch of us got together and watched all 3 films in one night. Geezus! I don't think 2 & 3 phased me cuz all I could remember was the first one. Although, the 2nd one was pretty much a repeat of the first one.
I never saw the updated version when it was re-released nor did I see the prequel. And I have no desire to watch either of them. :icon_yike I'd replace Alien and POTA with maybe Poltergist and The Omen (the original).

Looking back at the list. To me, "scary" is more of a horror movie, something that makes me jump in my seat. Some of the films mentioned are scary, but in a psychological way (like The Shining and Psycho). That's not to say that it takes away from their splendor, but they're just not scary to me.
BTW, I just read that Naomi Watts just won the lead in the re-make of "The Birds". She'll be great in that! I really like her a lot--she's soooo under-rated! :icon_evil

Candyman
Rosemary's Baby
The Omen (Remake)

Candyman was an intersting movie, Stacia. I didn't know it took place in Chicago. I also didn't tell me Virginia Madsen was in that movie!!!!!!! (She was FINE back then :icon_drib )

Way back in highschool, we had a discussion about this in my Creative Writing class where we watched The Shining and my teacher wanted to know why certain people didn't find it scary. I find it very interesting that many people don't think psychological horrors aren't scary when those are the ones that are closer to reality. I guess people just like to be scared and when there is a method to madness, it's just not that interesting or scary? The Shining scared the begezus outta me. Psycho? Lets just say I NEVER sit in my mom's rocking chair!

I've never seen Jacob's Ladder, actually, so I can't help you with that one, sorry. :)
However, Rosemary's Baby is VERY good. Just remember it was made back in the 60's, and film-making was very different back then. I definitely recommend seeing this one! The ending is one of the best in horror/suspense film history!

This one is some nasty shit, it's pretty messed up. There was one part of the film where i just couldn't look at the screen.
And never have i been to a movie and heard the ENTIRE audience all go "Oooooh" and cringe at the same time. That happened a number of times during the film.

Tonight, I rented An Inconvenient Truth, The Devil's Rejects and John Tucker Must Die. AIT was kind of boring to me, but it has a great message. I fast-forwarded through parts of it, though.
Joe, this is for you--if I know you like I think I do, you will LOVE The Devil's Rejects! It's a Rob Zombie film, and a sequel to "House of 1,000 Corpses). It's got a 70's, dusty Texas back-road town feel to it, which I loved. It's VERY demented and disturbing (some parts were painful to watch as a woman), but I know there are sick folks out there who do these kinds of things. An added bonus--Zombie's wife (Sheri Moon Zombie) is one of the 3 criminals, and she is SMOKIN' HOT. I mean, this girl is on FI-YAH!
I'm right in the middle of John Tucker Must Die. It's pretty funny, and Jesse Metcalfe is just so cute!

Oh yeah, the cast of girls were definitely hot. Brittany Snow is really cute.
The soundtrack has a cover of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" by Quietdrive and a cover of Modest Mouse's "Float On" by Ben Lee. It's mostly alternative I think.

Last night, I rented a movie I've never heard of called Pulse, which stars Kristen Bell (from Veronica Mars), Ian Somerhalder (from LOST), and singer Christina Milian. It was about ghosts who were able to wreak havoc by getting to us through technology (computers, cell phones, etc). If they entered your soul, you lost the will to live, so the town was going through an epidemic of suicides.
The movie was just okay for me (though I never realized how HOT Kristen is!) It could have been SOOOO much better, though! But, for a horror flick, the acting was quite good, and it wasn't gory.

Okay, so I've been waiting for this movie to come out on DVD, because I've had several people tell me it's a great film. Honestly, at the beginning, I was kinda bored, but I stuck it out. I'm glad I did, because OMG, this is one of the best scary movies I've seen in a LONG time. Before I watched it, I had no idea what the plot was about, so I was very surprised. This movie scared the living HELL out of me (a feeling I love!!!) Definitely check this one out if you like to be scared!

I just watched World Trade Center. Unlike United 93, it follows the aftermath of the attack--specifically two Port Authority cops who were trapped under the rubble and were rescued. It's a powerful movie and it makes you appreciate policemen, firemen, and paramedics so much more. It was a great look at how America came together to help one another.

I remember when I saw this film by Catherine Briellat with my ex a few years ago, she and I left the theater with our mouths open in shock. This is a French film that I've been trying to find for years. I finally found it on Amazon, and it arrived yesterday. Yes, it's still shocking (but excellent!) It follows Anais (a frumpy, overweight 12-year old), her drop-dead gorgeous older sister, and their parents on vacation. The relationship is really about the jealousy Anais feels towards her sister--she is the pride of the family, has style, and gets all the guys and the attention. Her sister (Elena) truly cares for and loves Anais, but she also teases her, and belittles her for eating certain things, telling her she doesn't need them (as her parents do).
Then Elena meets a smooth-talking Italian guy with a one-track mind. The asswipe tells her that anal sex is not really cause for her losing her virginity, and she gives in...while Anais pretends to sleep in the same room, she can't control her sobbing...it was so sad! Um, and this is the first time that I've ever seen a mainstream film show a guy with a hard-on (twice, actually). I won't spoil the ending, but it is VERY shocking and violent. This one is definitely worth checking out.

So, the movies I rented this week are: The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Hills have Eyes and The Illusionist. I have yet to watch The Illusionist, but I will today.
I LOVED the Exorcism of Emily Rose!!! It wasn't just a true story about a girl possessed by six demons (including Lucifer himself), but I loved how it was also about the trial against the Priest who performed the exorcism (that failed), and was charged with her murder. Laura Linney and Campbell Scott were excellent as they defense/prosecution. This movie was both freaky and intelligent; and, to think that it really happened just creeps me out.
The Hills Have Eyes (unrated version) was pretty good, but at times I thought it was kind of hokey. Still enjoyed it, though. :)

I just watched it tonight and I thought it was excellent. I agree that it was long, but the story was good, and it was just a great in-depth look at the US Coast Guard. They continually sacrifice their own lives to save others "so others may live." Great movie.

The Grudge 2---HATED IT!!!! Refund, please!
I had never even heard of the Farce of the Penguins (a VERY naughty take-off of March of the Penguins). Instead of Morgan Freeman narrating, we have Samuel L. Jackson. Instead of going on a trek to find a mate, these birds are going on a trek for some "hot penguin booty"! At times, I was laughing hysterically; other times, I was like, "why did I rent this?" It has tons of people voicing the (real, not animated) penguins: Bob Saget, Christina Applegate, Mo-Nique, Tracy Morgan, Gilbert Gottfried, Jim Belushi, Jason Biggs, John Lovitz, Whoopi Goldberg, John Stamos, the list goes on and on.

Here, Parker Posey is a woman who is on a quest to have an orgasm (she's never had one). Her husband (Paul Rudd) leaves her because of her "sexual dysfunction," well, and also to screw his student, Mischa Barton (we get to see her boobies in this one, btw :)). Anyway, the movie has its ups and downs--it was just okay for me. Not something I'd buy or watch again, probably.
There are some funny parts, though, especially between Parker and Heather Graham. Heather plays a sex shop clerk, and Parker goes in, and is eyeing this ENORMOUS purple dildo unwrapped and out on display. She grabs it, heads towards the counter, and flops it down--Heather is in shock lol. She can immediately tell that Parker is there not really for the dildo, but for an underlying problem. She asks, "Tell me--sometimes, rarely, or never?" Parker says, "Never." "Sweet Jesus," Heather replies. Nervously, Parker says, "So, how much?" Heather says, "You know, I don't think I can sell this to you in good conscience." Parker looks down at the huge dong and says, "You're right...it's dusty." Heather also propostions Parker to go in the back room with her (since masturbation isn't the only way to have an orgasm), but she politely declines.
She ends up purchasing a vibrator, then becomes literally addicted to it--so much, that she is unable to have an orgasm with the different men she sleeps with. Then later, she gives Heather a try, but can't reach it with her either. Exhausted, Heather gives up.
The guy who gives it to her? Danny DeVito. Seriously. I mean, come on, now...

I kept passing this movie up each time at Blockbuster, but I got it tonight. It's actually pretty decent. Peter Weller and Bridget Moynahan are on vacation in Africa. Bridget takes the two kids (her stepkids, one of them being the 14 year-old daughter who has serious issues with her) on a daytime safari trip. The guide decides to go "off-off" road, and when the boy needs to "drop the kids off at the pool," they expose themselves to the hungry lions waiting in the bush. Bye-bye guide! The three are now trapped in the car, which is their only protection, but the 2 lions keep coming back--and killing anyone who tries to rescue them.

Sounds a little like Open Water (a surprisingly thought provoking film), only replace the ocean with the veldt, and sharks with big cats... and I'm sure with a happy ending since children are involved, and only a very few mainstream directors dare to show children in jeopardy that end up going to the grave in films, like the great Guillermo del Toro (The Devil's Backbone, Hellboy). Still sounds interesting though.
Speaking of Del Toro, Pan's Labyrinth is a MUST see. But be warned, it's the closest thing to Terry Gilliam's Brazil that any film has ever come with its premise of escaping through the window of your own innerspace when the world around you has murdered you. Absolutely brilliant but bleak.

SCARLETT Johansson is being lined up to play porn sensation Jenna Jameson in a movie about her life story.
The stunning actress has been handpicked by adult movie legend Jameson as her personal choice for the lead in a film adaptation of her book, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star: A Cautionary Tale.
Jameson is currently in talks with producers and hopes filming will begin next year.
The X-rated actress told Britain's FHM magazine: "We're looking hopefully at Scarlett Johansson. She's my choice. I think she's beautiful."
Johansson has already vowed to strip off for the cameras if the right role comes along, saying last year: "I'm not opposed to doing nudity - it would just have to be the right project."
There's certainly been plenty of nudity in Jameson's life - the racy star has appeared in about 100 porn films and is one of the highest paid adult actors in the world.
She may be ten years younger than 32-year-old Jameson, but sultry Johansson, 22, already shares the porn queen's sex symbol status.
The Black Dahlia star, who is famed for her curvy figure, was voted Sexiest Woman Alive by readers of American men's magazine Esquire last year.
Both actresses also have trademark blonde hair and are renowned for their glamorous image.

Hmmm, I really like Scarlett as an actress, I think she's very talented. I wonder if she'll do it? But, I don't know...I always envisioned someone else playing Jenna in her life story...maybe Olivia Wilde or Heather Graham--but, that's just me. :)

I think scarlett is amazing but she has been cast in some really strange roles. Hollywood sees her as a classic leading lady which she isnt he best roles are in "Ghost World" and "Lost in Translation" where she plays cynical slacker types and she has had a string of flops since she changed her image. I think hollywood has got it wrong repackaging her as the next Julia Roberts she should be like a more mainstream Chloe Sevigny.

The Holiday was cute--I mean, not anything special, just cute. I LOVE Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, and Jude Law was charming as usual. I love Jack Black, but he seemed kind of out of place in this one.

I rented these flicks last night. I thought Borat was pretty funny, although I REALLY could have done without the really long, naked hairy wrestling men scene! YES Borat. I think it may be the funniest movie I have ever seen. I need to get the DVD to watch the extra 30 minutes of unseen footage. I'm waiting though because I'm wondering if they'll come out with a special edition.
I loved The Holiday. It's just one of those predictable, feel-good chick flicks.
I saw 300 over the weekend. It's definitely a guy movie... but it was well done. It's from the same author as Sin City, so of course there was lots of gore and lots of action. It's a simple story line, so there's not much of a plot...

As the title says, i saw Hot Fuzz tonight.
From the same people that made Shaun of the Dead for those who weren't sure. It was a great movie, very funny. Action, violence, comedy, all good.
And Timothy Dalton was in it, which i didn't know. It was only at the end when i saw his name in the credits. I went "Oh! No way! He was so-and-so. I thought he looked familiar"
Check it out if you haven't already.

Tonight, I rented "Cake," starring (and partly produced by) Heather Graham. It also stars Sandra Oh, Sarah Chalke (Scrubs), Taye Diggs and David Sutcliffe. Heather plays Pippa McGee (what a name!), a travel journalist who is a self-admitted "tramp," and totally against the institution of marriage. Her father falls ill, and she must head his magazine--Wedding Bells. She's NOT thrilled. She works with Sutcliffe, and Diggs is a sexy photographer, and Pippa is torn between the two of them. One thing that pisses me off is that still, interracial love scenes are taboo. I know there is a love scene with Heather and Taye, however, it was abruptly cut out, while her love scene with Sutcliffe was shown in its entirety.
Overall, the movie was touted as a "chick-flick," and it sort of was, I guess. Sandra Oh is great, and very funny. Heather Graham, however, finds herself in yet another failing role in another failed film (this one went straight to video, I believe). I await the day that Heather carries a film that is worthy of her talents. "Cake" definitely wasn't it.

I'm with you, Little A. It had the potential to be really good and funny, because the storyline wasn't all that bad. But, I digress...

These were the flicks we rented the other night.
Charlotte's Web is a funny, well-acted (Dakota Fanning is a child genius)well-done remake of the classic cartoon, and Seven and I were both crying like babies when Charlotte dies. Seven, however, thought that Julia Roberts was a little "bland" as the voice of Charlotte, though.
Blood Diamond was really good, and Leo DiCaprio rocked! Dijmon Honsou is awesome as well.
Black Christmas was both creepy and campy--not too scary, but still a pretty good slasher flick.

She dies?:cry02: Glad I didn't go to that one. Bridge To Terabithia involves death as well. It was horribly sad and depressing.

I just finished watching Notes on a Scandal. I have to say, it's one of the best films I've seen in a long time. Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett give equally powerful performances.
Cate plays Sheba Hart, a new art teacher at the school. An older teacher named Barbara, played by Judi Dench, finds something intriguing about Sheba. They eventually become friends, although Barbara misinterprets their friendship. Soon after, Barbara discovers that Sheba has been having an affair with a 15-year-old student and feels betrayed. From there, the story unravels.
The day before, I watched A Good Year starring Russell Crowe. It's one of those feel-good movies with a predictable ending. Crowe plays Max, an asshole, prick of a stock broker. When his uncle dies, he inherits the estate and immediately wants to sell it. As he spends a few days there, he suddenly "finds himself" and of course, falls in love. It's a good, light movie.

I hear there are rapes in the movie. Do they show the rape or allude to it? As I get older I cannot stomach rape scenes.

I also watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning last night. It was pretty good, but it was missing one thing: Jessica Biel! Jordana Brewster is a hottie, but she's not Jessie.
But, I like how it explained some things about the wacky family, so that was cool.
I was so routing for Jordana's character too, then in the end I was like "Oh sh*t!"
Same thing for The Hills Have Eyes 2 - but that movie was kinda gross.

no actual scenes. an attempt at one, but uhh..it doesn't turn out like it....it's actually a pretty gorey scene, but also a really funny one.

I rented Dirty Love tonight, which was written by (and stars) Jenny McCarthy. My boss recommened this one for two reasons: 1, it's funny, and 2, Carmen Electra! Carmen plays Jenny's friend. She waxes legs for a living, and she thinks she's black. She is SO freakin hilarious in this movie. She could do her own movie with this character--I was rolling every time Carmen was on.
Anyway, the movie is about how Jenny gets dumped by her model boyfriend. She sets out for revenge (by trying to make him jealous), but each time her plans fail miserably. She's a great comedic actress, and of course, always nice to look at. We get to see her :boobies: as well--a definite plus! If you're looking for something goofy, then check out this one.

Okay, next up tonight was Bobby, which was written and directed by Emilio Estevez. It did just so-so at the box office, though. It is actually a really good film. It's about the intertwined lives of people during the night that RFK was shot. The absolute best thing the film has going for it is its cast: Emilio Estevez, Martin Sheen, William H. Macy, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Hunt, Laurence Fishburne, Harry Belafonte, Demi Moore, Sharon Stone, Christian Slater, Heather Graham, Ashton Kutcher, Lindsay Lohan, Nick Cannon, Joshua Jackson, Elijah Wood, Joy Bryant...amazing cast! There's a lot of different storylines going on, but they're all very interesting.
Joshua and Nick are campaigning in racist times for RFK, Christian Slater is a racist kitchen manager, Demi Moore is a druken singer whose light is starting to dim with a husband (Estevez) who is unhappy and unsure of his place in life. Sharon Stone is great as a hairdresser who learns her husband (Macy) is cheating on her with a younger woman (Graham). Ashton Kutcher is funny as a hippie, and Lindsay Lohan and Elijah Wood give emotional performances as friends who decide to marry so he won't be sent to Vietnam.
The only thing I didn't like was this: although the real footage of RFK was a great inclusion, the gritty footage of 1968 just doesn't mesh with the clean footage of how the film was actually shot. I don't know--it just bothered me.
It's hard to have a film with so many characters, but even harder to make the audience care about every one of them. For me, Bobby succeeded.
