IMHO the trailer is in .mov format, which is relatively few used in many countries rather than .wmv , so it is difficult for many people to see the vids and they can hesitate to authorize to install the plugin.
Also there is only one trailer, all other links to trailers on the page go only to the join page.
So it is difficult to give an opinion.

Well....................................honestly why would Sandra want to use outdated material on her sites? .wmv is so outdated. mov is the future. Already she has been able to make material available to convert to download to ipod. As far as other countries not downloading and using .mov I think you said it all when you said it was your opinion.

Three comments...

1) QuickTime is widely deployed.
2) I'm not sure I'd call Windows Media (.WMV) "outdated"... I would say that QuickTime (.MOV) is technologically superior though (and like Karen said QuickTime 7 and H.264 are the future).
3) We only joined Cruising Girls a couple of days ago and we haven't had a chance to look at everything but quality of the photos and videos we have looked at is excellent.

Ok, yes Windows Media is widely used, that doesn't mean it's good technology or even the right technology.

Sandra's videos are hi-res (800x450 @ 1.5mbits/sec) most of the sites using Windows media are using lower resolutions and lower bit rates (usually 450x300 @ 700kbits/sec). Delivering the same content at the same resolution and bit rate with Windows media would result in unacceptably large file sizes.

Simply put Sandra is using the best available technology to deliver high quality, high resloution content to her members. :)

Avi is on the net actually only an extension of divx files. So the problem is the same. Avi of camcorders is not the same format, even with the same extension, it is a raw format too large to be used on net.
Divx need the good codecs, whatever they are, it is often difficult to understand by the basic netsurfer.
Mov give good display but vlc cannot display embedded videos without "save as" download I think, for sample the trailers in the personal site of Sandra .
Also the quicktime plugin with his multiples updates has many bugs, stability problems with vista, and security holes. If it bugs it can crash your IE7 and basic install steal the files extensions of other programs.
Many difficults for current user.
WMV is preset on windows computers, it is the real reason of choice of webmasters, the most easy to understand and use by basic customer, also on other computers as at his work.
It is for that reason I have chosen it, even if encoding can be painful.

You are true but I must think at level of current France customer. I don't know technical level in other countries.
Even if avi is a container, for people it is only the sort of file he tooks from the mule and can play on its dvd reader for tv. He doesn't understand the subtility of codecs.
Firefox is used only by 20 pr cent of my netsurfer from stats , other used IE.
And most of them have a kernel panic if something ask to them to install something on their computer, especially in porn.
It is increased I think with the remembering of abuses of dialers.
On google and forums it is easy to see numbers of difficulties with vista, quicktime and all that stuff.
People come to see a vid, it is difficult to say them it would be better to change their browser and update their quicktime , even to install it, to see the trailer.
At last if it doesn't work, it is not the guilt of the website , but it would be for visitor if you ask him to install something with a wrong result.

I think the big difference is when you buy a pc you will have wmp installed or the update is done very easily with microsoft.
The porn video is then really "plug and play" :rofl2:
But I have look at Digital Dream Girls , actually it offers trailers with an image link in wmv or download in mov with a text link, a sign of wmv is more usable for consumer I think.
But I don't want to convince someone, as I am not a big site, only a microsite :mbounc:
It was only an explanation of my reasons.
It would be interesting to offer two or three different videos formats to download, but only huge sites can manage this.
